Anne Wagner, a Maine artist, finds her contemporary inspiration from the sea and the amazing colors of the Maine Coast.   Her artwork is primarily in watercolor and watercolor batik.    The watercolor batik process utilizes watercolors and wax on delicate Rice Paper.   This technique is done in several layers, ending with a final batik that creates interesting lines and elements within the wax creases.   Every piece is a surprise at the finish, each piece is very unique,  and one of a kind.   Some of the larger art pieces have over 10 layers of watercolor and wax, and take up to 40 hours to complete over a three week period.
